Winemakers Notes:
This ancient grape variety, quite possibly the oldest
known wine grape, spread from the East over two thousand years ago through Greece into North Africa, the Iberian Peninsula,
Italy, Southern France, Austria and Germany. Over the past two centuries Muscat has been introduced into
California, Mexico, Chile, New Zealand, Australia, Russia and South Africa. Throughout the years this very
adaptable vine has been prized for its gorgeous floral and honeysuckle aroma. Muscat Canelli is the 12th
most widely planted grape variety in the world. A less intensely aromatic and flavorful relative, Muscat
of Alexandria, is the 13th most widely planted. Our Muscat
has a lovely aroma of orange blossom and honeysuckle and a beautiful taste of candied orange peel and lemon drops. Serve this
during the next five months with fruit-based desserts like apple or pear tarts, or with lemon mousse.
